A collaboration between Derrick Adams and Los Angeles–based streetwear brand Union, this T-shirt was produced on the occasion of Derrick Adams: Come as You Are at Gagosian, Beverly Hills—the artist’s debut solo exhibition with the gallery. The paintings celebrate moments of carefree leisure, inspired by Adams’s belief in the constructive power of scenes that uplift and support Black culture.
The shirt features imagery from the painting Be the Table (2023), including a cup and a slice of cake topped with a strawberry on the back. The front sports a blue ribbon adorned with the brand’s logo positioned on top of the wearer’s heart. Each cotton shirt is pigment dyed and enzyme washed.
