Masa Designs: Black Clay Catchall

This small, square handmade dish was designed by legendary chef Masayoshi Takayama, known as Masa, for serving sashimi on crushed ice; however, its elegant simplicity makes it a truly multifunctional piece. Due to the unique properties of the clay used, the piece can be kept either oven-warm or refrigerator-chilled.

Following the seven principles of shibusa—simplicity, implicitness, modesty, naturalness, imperfection, everydayness, and silence—the Masa Designs collection is crafted to improve the aesthetics of everyday life. Markings and coloring may vary due to the unique nature of the production and firing processes.
